What MagpieCRM is

MagpieCRM is an open source CRM for B2B prospecting and email. In one app you can:

  • search companies, and the people at them, by title, seniority, industry, company size and country;
  • save people to lists with work emails that are checked with their company's mail server;
  • keep contacts, companies and lists, and track deals on drag-and-drop pipelines;
  • design, schedule and track email campaigns;
  • grow your list with sign-up forms, and ask it questions with surveys;
  • work with your own Anthropic or OpenAI API key in the copilot, or from Claude Code, Cursor and Codex over MCP.

It's licensed under the AGPL-3.0. These docs describe version 0.9.23.

Cloud or self-hosted

The app is the same either way. What differs is who runs it and who you pay.

  • Magpie Cloud is MagpieCRM run for you, in your own workspace at yourname.magpiecrm.com, hosted in Germany. Prospect data, email verification and sending are set up. You choose monthly allowances of prospect credits and emails, from £10 a month. See Start on Cloud.
  • Self-hosted is free, with every feature. You run one Docker image on your own server and bring your own SocialFetch key for prospect data, your own email provider and your own email verifier. See Self-hosting.

Not sure which? Why Cloud and self-hosting compare them, and the pricing page shows what a Cloud plan costs.

Where to start

Most people go through the guides in this order:

  1. Set up. On Cloud, sign up and verify your sending domain in Start on Cloud. Self-hosted, run the image with Self-hosting, then connect an email provider in Sending and deliverability and a verification server in Email verification.
  2. Build a list. Search for the people you sell to and save them with verified work emails, in Find and save prospects. You can also import contacts you already have from a CSV or Excel file.
  3. Send. Design an email, send yourself a test, then send it or schedule it, in Send a campaign.
  4. Grow and listen. Add a sign-up form to your site and ask your list questions, in Forms and surveys.
  5. Optionally, connect Claude Code, Cursor or Codex to your copy through the MCP server, so they can search prospects and draft campaigns for you. They can't send them; you do that yourself.
