Why do teams look for a Lusha alternative?
Teams look for a Lusha alternative when they mostly email and want the sending and the deals in the same tool. Lusha is priced around contact data, including phone numbers. A team that does not call may want something built around email.
Lusha is a B2B data tool. It has its own database of contacts and companies, a browser extension, buying signals and CRM integrations. Its free plan makes it easy to try. Three things come up as a team grows:
- Credits. Revealing a verified email uses 1 credit. Revealing a phone number uses 5.
- Seats. Each plan includes a set number of seats: 1 on Free and Starter, 2 on Pro and 5 on Premium. Teams of more than 5 talk to sales.
- Extra tools. Many teams still keep their deals in a CRM, and run newsletters in another tool.
Each of those tools holds a copy of your contacts. Under the GDPR, you answer for every copy, and fines can reach 4% of yearly global turnover. Fewer copies means less to secure.
How much does Lusha cost?
Lusha costs $49.90 (Starter), $69.90 (Pro) or $399.90 (Premium) a month on monthly billing, according to the Lusha pricing page. Yearly billing is 25% less: $37.45, $52.45 and $299.95 a month. Prices are in US dollars. We checked each plan on 12 October 2026.
- Free: $0, with 40 credits a month and 1 seat.
- Starter: 400 credits a month, or 4,800 a year on yearly billing, with 1 seat.
- Pro: 600 credits a month, or 7,200 a year, with 2 seats.
- Premium: 3,400 credits a month, or 40,800 a year, with 5 seats.
- Scale: a custom plan for larger teams, through Lusha's sales team.
The page also has a slider for choosing how many credits you need. The figures above are what each plan showed when we checked. On Pro, 600 credits is 600 verified emails, or 120 phone numbers. On yearly billing, the credits arrive up front and reset at the end of the year.
MagpieCRM charges for the work, not the headcount. On Magpie Cloud you pay £0.004 per prospect credit (1 for each prospect a search shows you)$0.006 per prospect credit (1 for each prospect a search shows you), 1 prospect credit (£0.004)1 prospect credit ($0.006) per verified email reveal and £0.15 per 1,000$0.25 per 1,000 emails sent. You choose a monthly allowance of each, paid up front, from £10/month$15/month:
- 1,000 prospects found, 600 verified email reveals and 10,000 emails sent a month comes to £7.90 on Magpie Cloud (1,600 prospect credits and the emails), within the £10 monthly minimum1,000 prospects found, 600 verified email reveals and 10,000 emails sent a month comes to $12.10 on Magpie Cloud (1,600 prospect credits and the emails), within the $15 monthly minimum.
- 5,000 prospects found, 3,400 verified email reveals and 25,000 emails sent a month comes to £37.35 on Magpie Cloud (8,400 prospect credits and the emails)5,000 prospects found, 3,400 verified email reveals and 25,000 emails sent a month comes to $56.65 on Magpie Cloud (8,400 prospect credits and the emails).
These are not like-for-like. Lusha's credits can buy phone numbers, and MagpieCRM has none. Unused Magpie allowance does not roll over. If you run out, you can upgrade and pay the difference for the rest of the month. Self-hosted MagpieCRM is free. You pay your data and email providers directly.
MagpieCRM vs Lusha: feature comparison
MagpieCRM and Lusha both find B2B contacts and their emails, but they are built for different jobs. Lusha is a data tool with its own database and phone numbers. MagpieCRM is a smaller, open source tool for prospecting and email campaigns. The table puts the two side by side. Lusha details come from the Lusha pricing and data pages.
| MagpieCRM | Lusha | |
|---|---|---|
| Price model | Monthly allowances, paid up front | Plans with credits and included seats |
| Entry price | £10/month, or free self-hosted$15/month, or free self-hosted | $37.45 a month billed yearly, or $49.90 monthly |
| Free option | Self-hosted, every feature | Free plan, 40 credits a month |
| Prospect search | Companies and people, through SocialFetch | Built-in database, 515M+ contacts |
| Email checks | Checked live with the mail server | Verified emails, 1 credit each |
| Phone numbers | No | Yes, 5 credits each |
| Sequences | Email only, stops on reply | Email sequence automation, on every plan |

| Open source | Yes (AGPL-3.0) | No |
| AI | Copilot on your own Anthropic or OpenAI key, plus MCP | AI assistant, plus MCP |
The main difference is where the work happens. Lusha is centred on the data: it finds the contact and can export it to your CRM. MagpieCRM finds the contact, emails them in campaigns or short email sequences, and tracks the deal that follows in a pipeline.
Where is Lusha stronger than MagpieCRM?
Lusha is stronger on data, phone numbers and reach into other tools. The Lusha data page lists over 515 million contacts, 29 million companies and 165 million verified emails. MagpieCRM has no contact database of its own. It searches through SocialFetch.
The Lusha pricing page also lists a browser extension that works on LinkedIn, in CRMs and on any website. It lists lookalike contacts and companies, buying intent topics, bulk enrichment, an API and export straight to a CRM.
Lusha is likely the better fit if:
- Your team calls, and needs phone numbers as well as emails.
- You want to reveal contacts from a browser extension while you browse.
- You pick accounts by buying signals or lookalikes.
- You need a very large database inside the tool, with no setup.
MagpieCRM is early access software, at version 0.9.41. It is built around verified work emails, simple campaigns and email sequences. It has no phone numbers, no dialer, no LinkedIn or call steps and no A/B tests. For a small team that mostly emails, that trade can be worth it. If phone numbers are the reason you pay for Lusha, stay with Lusha.
What do you get with MagpieCRM?
MagpieCRM gives small B2B teams, founders and agencies one open source tool to find verified contacts and email them. We built it to keep that job simple and cheap. The app includes the following today, at version 0.9.41:
- Prospect search. Search companies by keyword, industry, headcount and country. Search people by title, seniority, country and keyword.
- Verified emails. Each email is checked with the company's mail server. Only verified emails are saved, unless you change the default.
- Contacts and lists. Import from CSV or paste, add custom fields, build lists and personas, and export any time.
- Campaigns. Build emails with drag and drop or a template, schedule them, and track opens and clicks.
- Sequences. Send a few plain-text emails to each person, days apart. A sequence stops for a person when they reply, unsubscribe or bounce.
- Deals and pipelines. Track deals on a drag-and-drop board, with a value, owner and close date. Run more than one pipeline, each with its own stages.
- Forms and surveys. Collect sign-ups through forms or an API, and run surveys with branching.
- AI. A copilot on your own Anthropic or OpenAI key, and an MCP server for Claude Code, Claude Desktop, Cursor and the OpenAI Codex CLI.
MagpieCRM keeps only a prospect's name, title, seniority, company, domain, country and profile URL. Search results are never stored.
How does MagpieCRM verify emails on Magpie Cloud?
MagpieCRM verifies each email by asking the company's mail server whether the mailbox exists. No email is sent. On Magpie Cloud, these checks run from our own pool of verification IPs, with our own verification domain. Your domain and your servers are never used for verification, so your reputation is not at risk.
- Checks are spread across the pool and rate-limited per IP, per mail provider and per company.
- If one IP is refused, the check is retried on another.
- Our IPs and verification domain are checked against blocklists every 6 hours. A listed IP is taken out of use until it is clean.
- Prospect data is included, so you need no SocialFetch account of your own.
- Sending needs only a few DNS records, and bounces and complaints are handled for you.
Self-hosting is free, but verification takes real work. You need outbound port 25, which most cloud providers block. You also need clean proxy IPs, reverse DNS and SPF for a verification domain, blocklist checks and rate-limit tuning. Then add your own SocialFetch and sending accounts. On Cloud, updates are also applied for you.
How do you move from Lusha to MagpieCRM?
You move from Lusha by exporting your contacts and lists to CSV, then importing them into MagpieCRM. Then set up sending and build your first campaign or sequence. A sequence sends your follow-ups for you and stops when someone replies. Check each email against the FTC's CAN-SPAM guide before you send.
- Export your contacts and lists from Lusha to CSV.
- Import the CSV into MagpieCRM, and map each column to a field.
- On Magpie Cloud, add the DKIM record we show you, and DMARC if you don't have it yet. Self-hosted, connect SMTP or your own email provider.
- Build your email in the drag-and-drop builder, then schedule the campaign, or write a short sequence.
- Keep a Lusha plan only for the people who still need phone numbers or the browser extension.
