Connect your own AI app

Make a key in Settings, under Connect AI apps, then add MagpieCRM to your client. Your AI can then search prospects, build lists and draft campaigns, templates and surveys, as the copilot does.

What it can do

Ask for it in a sentence.

The copilot sits next to your work in the app. It can edit the email, survey or persona you have open, and undo its last change.

Search prospects

Describe who you're after and it runs the company and people searches. Searches use prospect credits, as they do when you search yourself.

Campaign drafts

Draft a campaign from a brief, laid out in the builder with merge tags. It adds, edits and moves blocks, sets page styles and renders a preview.

Templates

Create, edit and duplicate saved templates, or start a design from one of the starters.

Lists and contacts

Create lists, add contacts, look up who's on a list, and add custom contact fields.

Surveys

Build a survey with pages, questions and skip logic, publish or close it, and read the results.

Campaign stats

Ask how a campaign did and it reads back the opens, clicks and bounces.

What it can't do

It drafts. You send.

The copilot and the MCP tools can't send or schedule a campaign, reveal an email address or save prospects to a list. Those stay as buttons you press yourself, so nothing reaches a real inbox without you.

Permissions

You choose what needs your approval.

What matters is whether a change is easy to undo. A draft campaign is; adding 400 contacts to a list, or deleting one, isn't.

Make a key
In Settings, then Connect AI apps, make an MCP key for each app. They're separate from your sign-up API keys, and you can revoke one without touching the others.
Add the server
Point your client at /api/mcp on your MagpieCRM address, with the key as a Bearer token. Setup is ready-made for Claude Code, Claude Desktop, Cursor, Codex CLI and the OpenAI Responses API.

Lists and contacts, campaigns, templates, email design, brand kit, prospect search, surveys and survey design: the copilot's tools.
See it in the app
Designs are saved as your AI edits them, so drafts are waiting in MagpieCRM for you to check and send.

What it doesn't do yet.

MagpieCRM is early access software, at version 0.9.23. So you know before you start:

ChatGPT and claude.ai connectors aren't supported yet: they need a sign-in flow (OAuth) that isn't built.
The copilot needs an API key. A ChatGPT or Claude subscription login won't work.
The brand kit (logo, colours, font, tone) can only be set through the copilot or MCP. There's no settings page for it yet.

FAQ

Questions, answered.

Do I pay for AI on top of MagpieCRM?

Not to us. The copilot runs on your own Anthropic or OpenAI API key, and they bill you for what it uses. Prospect searches it runs still use prospect credits on Magpie Cloud, as your own searches do.

Can the AI send emails for me?

No. Neither the copilot nor the MCP tools can send or schedule a campaign, reveal an email or save prospects. They build drafts, and you send them.

Which AI apps can connect over MCP?

Setup is ready-made for Claude Code, Claude Desktop, Cursor, Codex CLI and the OpenAI Responses API. Anything else that supports MCP over Streamable HTTP works with the same address and key. ChatGPT and claude.ai connectors aren't supported yet.

What can an MCP key see?

A key gives full access to your contacts and can run prospect searches. Data your AI app reads is sent to that app's provider, so give each app its own key and revoke any you stop using.
