Why do teams look for a HubSpot alternative?
Teams look for a HubSpot alternative when they outgrow the free CRM. The tools growing teams need most, such as sequences and marketing automation, sit on the Professional tiers. Those tiers charge per seat, per marketing contact, and a one-off onboarding fee.
HubSpot is a good all-in-one platform. Many teams start on its free CRM. The costs build in three ways:
- Seats. Sales Hub charges for each user on paid tiers.
- Contacts. Marketing Hub prices rise with your marketing contact count.
- Onboarding. Professional and Enterprise tiers carry a required one-off fee.
There is also the question of where your data lives. A CRM holds personal data on every lead. Under the GDPR, fines can reach 4% of yearly global turnover. Some teams would rather keep that data on servers they control.
How much does HubSpot cost?
HubSpot Sales Hub Professional costs $90 per seat per month billed yearly, or $100 monthly, with a $1,500 onboarding fee, according to the HubSpot sales pricing page. It is the first tier with sequences. Enterprise is $150 per seat per month, with a $3,500 fee. We compared these plans on 26 September 2026.
Marketing Hub Professional costs $800 a month billed yearly, according to the HubSpot marketing pricing page. That covers 3 seats and 2,000 marketing contacts, with a $3,000 onboarding fee. Enterprise starts at $3,600 a month.
So a five-person sales team on both Professional hubs pays $450 a month for sales seats and $800 for marketing. That is $1,250 a month, or $15,000 a year, plus $4,500 in onboarding fees.
MagpieCRM has no seat or onboarding fees. On Magpie Cloud you pay £0.009 per prospect found, £0.002 per verified email and £0.15 per 1,000 emails. Each plan includes £10 of usage:
- 500 prospects found, 500 verified email reveals and 10,000 emails sent a month comes to £10.00 on Magpie Cloud, for the whole team.
- 1,000 prospects found, 1,000 verified email reveals and 100,000 emails sent a month comes to £26.00 on Magpie Cloud, for the whole team.
MagpieCRM vs HubSpot: feature comparison
We built MagpieCRM around the sales and marketing jobs most HubSpot teams pay Professional prices for. The table puts the two side by side. HubSpot details come from the HubSpot pricing pages.
| MagpieCRM | HubSpot | |
|---|---|---|
| Price model | Flat plan plus usage | Per seat per hub, plus contacts |
| Onboarding fees | None | $1,500 to $7,000 |
| Free option | Self-hosted, every feature | Free CRM, up to 2 users |
| Sales sequences | Included | Sales Hub Professional and up |
| Pipelines and forecasts | Included | Yes |
| Prospect search | Included | Add-ons and integrations |
| Email and SMS flows | Included | Marketing Hub |
| Marketing contacts | Unlimited, pay per email | Priced by tier |
| SQL access to your data | Yes | No |
| Open source | Yes (AGPL-3.0) | No |
The main difference is how the price grows. HubSpot grows with seats, hubs and contacts. MagpieCRM grows only with what you send and search. A team can double its list without doubling its bill.
Where is HubSpot stronger than MagpieCRM?
HubSpot is stronger as a full suite. It covers your website, landing pages, social posts and customer service, as well as sales and marketing. It has a large app store and free training through HubSpot Academy. For one vendor across all of that, HubSpot is hard to beat.
HubSpot may be the better fit if:
- You want your website, help desk and CRM from one vendor.
- You only need the free CRM, with two users or fewer.
- Your team depends on HubSpot Academy or a niche app in its store.
MagpieCRM focuses on the sales and marketing engine: finding leads, working deals and sending email, on data you own. If that is where most of your HubSpot bill goes, MagpieCRM will likely cost far less.
How do you switch from HubSpot to MagpieCRM?
You switch from HubSpot by exporting your records to CSV, then importing them into MagpieCRM. HubSpot lets you export contacts, companies, deals, notes and activities. Rebuild your sequences and flows next, then move your sending domain.
- Export contacts, companies, deals, notes and activities from HubSpot.
- Set up your pipelines, and add any custom properties as fields in MagpieCRM.
- Import each file with the import wizard, and map each column to a field.
- Rebuild your sequences and marketing flows.
- Connect your mailbox and sending service, then cancel the HubSpot seats you no longer need.
Before you send, check your sequences against the FTC's CAN-SPAM guide and your local rules on marketing email.
