Why do teams look for a Twenty CRM alternative?
Teams look for a Twenty alternative when they need a different job done, not a better CRM. Twenty is a CRM first. Its code repository describes it as building blocks for a custom CRM. That suits a team that wants to model its own sales process.
Some small teams have a narrower job. They need to:
- Find people. Search for companies and contacts that match a target customer.
- Get a working email. Check each address before sending to it.
- Email them. Send a campaign, or a short run of follow-ups that stops on a reply.
MagpieCRM is built around that job. It is not a replacement for Twenty as a CRM. We checked every Twenty fact on this page on 12 October 2026, using Twenty's own website, docs and code repository.
How much do Twenty and MagpieCRM cost?
Twenty's cloud costs $9 per user per month on the Pro plan and $19 per user per month on the Organization plan, both billed yearly, according to the Twenty pricing page. Monthly billing costs more. Enterprise starts from $50k a year. The page offers a 30-day trial.
Self-hosting Twenty is free. Twenty's plan docs say the free self-hosted plan includes all Pro features, with community support. Single sign-on, row-level permissions and audit logs are premium features on the Organization plan, in the cloud or self-hosted.
MagpieCRM charges for usage, not users. On Magpie Cloud you pay £0.004 per prospect credit (1 for each prospect a search shows you)$0.006 per prospect credit (1 for each prospect a search shows you), 1 prospect credit (£0.004)1 prospect credit ($0.006) per verified email reveal and £0.15 per 1,000$0.25 per 1,000 emails sent. You choose a monthly allowance of each, paid up front, from £10/month$15/month:

Unused allowance does not roll over. Self-hosted MagpieCRM is free, and you pay your data and email providers directly. Adding teammates to a Magpie Cloud workspace isn't available yet. Self-hosted copies can add users.
MagpieCRM vs Twenty: feature comparison
Twenty covers far more of the CRM job than MagpieCRM. MagpieCRM covers prospecting and outbound email, which Twenty mostly leaves to other tools. The table puts them side by side. Twenty details come from its pricing page, docs and repository. "Not listed" means we found no such feature in Twenty's docs.
| MagpieCRM | Twenty | |
|---|---|---|
| Main job | Prospecting and email, with a light CRM | A CRM you customise |
| License | AGPL-3.0 | AGPL-3.0, with some files under a commercial license |
| Hosted price | From £10/month, by usageFrom $15/month, by usage | $9 per user per month, billed yearly |
| Self-hosting | Free: one container, data in a JSON file | Free core: Docker Compose with Postgres and Redis |
| Custom objects | No, custom fields on contacts | Yes, unlimited |
| Deals and pipelines | Yes, drag-and-drop | Yes, with kanban views |
| Mailbox and calendar sync | No | Google, Microsoft, or IMAP, SMTP and CalDAV |
| Workflows | No | Yes, with triggers, branches and code steps |
| Dashboards and reports | No | Yes, dashboards with charts |
| Prospect search | Yes, through SocialFetch | Not listed |
| Email campaigns | Yes, drag-and-drop builder and templates | In beta, switched on by request |
| Email sequences | Email only, stops on reply | Through a connected email tool |
| AI | Copilot on your own Anthropic or OpenAI key, plus MCP | AI agents and chat, plus MCP |
The main difference is where each tool starts. Twenty starts from the record: companies, people, deals and any object you add. MagpieCRM starts from the search: find a person, verify their email, send to them, then track the deal.
Where is Twenty stronger than MagpieCRM?
Twenty is stronger as a CRM. The Twenty pricing page lists unlimited custom objects, fields and views, with table, kanban and calendar view types. It also lists roles and permissions, a REST and GraphQL API and webhooks. MagpieCRM keeps to contacts, companies, lists and deals, with custom fields on contacts.
- Mailbox and calendar sync. Twenty connects Google and Microsoft accounts, or other providers over IMAP, SMTP and CalDAV, according to its mail and calendar docs. Emails and meetings are linked to the matching people and companies.
- Workflows. Twenty's workflows start from a record event, a button, a schedule or a webhook. Steps can change records, send email, call an API, run code or hand work to an AI agent.
- Dashboards. Twenty's dashboards chart any object, such as pipeline value by stage or deals closed over time.
- Custom apps. Developers can define objects and fields in code and publish them to a workspace.
Twenty is the better fit if:
- You want a full CRM that the whole team works in all day.
- You need custom objects, permissions or reports.
- You want emails and meetings logged on each record without extra work.
MagpieCRM is early access software, at version 0.9.41. It has no mailbox or calendar sync, no custom objects, no automated workflows and no sales reports yet. Self-hosted users have no roles: everyone can do everything.
Does Twenty send email campaigns and sequences?
Twenty has email campaigns in beta. Twenty's campaign docs say you ask Twenty to switch them on for your workspace, and that a workspace can send up to 1,000 campaign emails a day. Its plan docs list email campaigns among the premium features.
For sequences and newsletters, Twenty's email docs recommend using workflows to connect a dedicated email marketing tool. They also advise against sending mass email straight from a connected mailbox. We found no prospect database in Twenty's docs. Its workflow docs suggest enriching new contacts through outside APIs.
This is the gap MagpieCRM is built for. It can be that dedicated tool next to Twenty, though the two are not connected: contacts move between them as CSV files.
What do you get with MagpieCRM?
MagpieCRM gives small B2B teams, founders and agencies one open source tool to find verified contacts and email them. Here is what the app includes today, at version 0.9.41:
- Prospect search. Search companies by keyword, industry, headcount and country, and people by title, seniority, country and keyword.
- Verified emails. Each email is checked with the company's mail server. Only verified emails are saved by default.
- Campaigns and sequences. Build campaigns with drag and drop or a template, and track opens and clicks. Send plain-text sequences that stop when a person replies, unsubscribes or bounces.
- Deals and pipelines. Track deals on a drag-and-drop board, with a value, owner and close date. Run more than one pipeline.
- Forms and surveys. Collect sign-ups through forms or an API, and run surveys with branching.
- AI. A copilot on your own Anthropic or OpenAI key, and an MCP server for Claude Code, Claude Desktop, Cursor and the OpenAI Codex CLI.
How does self-hosting compare?
Both projects ship Docker images, but Twenty runs more parts. Twenty's Docker Compose guide starts a server, a worker, a Postgres database and Redis, and asks for at least 2GB of RAM. The stack is TypeScript, NestJS and React.
MagpieCRM runs as one container, with its data in a single JSON file on a volume. There is no separate database. Prospect search and email verification need more setup: your own SocialFetch key, an email provider, and a verification server with outbound port 25. The self-hosting guide has the steps.
On licensing, both use AGPL-3.0. Twenty's license file adds that files marked as Enterprise fall under a commercial license, and that some developer packages are MIT. All of MagpieCRM is AGPL-3.0.
How do you use MagpieCRM with Twenty?
You use MagpieCRM with Twenty by keeping Twenty as the CRM and doing prospecting and outbound email in MagpieCRM. Twenty's pricing page lists CSV import and export, and MagpieCRM imports and exports CSV too.
- Search for companies and people in MagpieCRM, and reveal their verified work emails.
- Save them to a list, then send a campaign or a short sequence.
- When replies turn into real conversations, export those contacts from MagpieCRM to CSV.
- Import that CSV into Twenty, and work the deals there.
