Filter by title, seniority, industry, company size and country, then save the people who fit to a list.

The workflow

Four steps, in one tool.

Prospects, lists, campaigns and deals share one set of contacts, so there's nothing to export between tools.

  1. Describe your customer

Save a persona with the job titles, seniority and locations you sell to, and apply it to a search in one click.

  2. Search and save

Review each person's current title and company, then save the ones who fit to a list. Their work emails are found and verified as they're saved.

  3. Email from your domain

Design the email, send yourself a test, then send now or schedule it. It goes out from your own address, and replies come to your own mailbox.

  4. Track and follow up

See who clicked and who bounced, then add a deal on the pipeline board for anyone worth a conversation.

What helps

Built for small teams doing their own outreach.

Personas

Keep a written profile of each ideal customer, with pain points and your value proposition, next to the search it drives.

Verified only, by default

Only addresses the company's mail server confirms are saved. Catch-all and risky guesses are left out unless you choose otherwise.

No paying twice

People already in your contacts are left out of results, and a repeated search carries on from where the last one stopped.

Your own domain

Campaigns go out from your sender address. On Magpie Cloud they're sent through our sending servers, signed for your domain.

Who clicked

Each campaign shows clicks per link and per person, bounces and unsubscribes. Security-scanner clicks are filtered out.

Deals on a board

Add a deal with its value, company and contacts, and drag it from New lead to Won. The board shows open and weighted value.

What it costs

A month of outbound, priced.

An example month on Magpie Cloud: 500 people found, 250 of them saved with a verified email, and two campaigns to those 250. Plans start at £10 a month. Self-hosted, you pay SocialFetch, your email verifier and your email provider directly.

Compliance

Check the rules before you send.

Cold email to businesses is allowed in many places, with conditions. In the UK, marketing emails to people at companies are allowed with a clear way to opt out, but sole traders and some partnerships must have agreed first. In the US, read the FTC's CAN-SPAM guide. Check the rules where you and your prospects are.

In the UK and EU, tracking opens needs consent, which people found through search haven't given. Turn off Track opens for those campaigns; clicks, bounces and unsubscribes are recorded either way.

  • Every campaign can carry a personal unsubscribe link and one-click unsubscribe headers
  • Anyone can opt out of prospecting, and is then left out of search, saves and campaigns
  • Unsubscribed, complained and hard-bounced addresses aren't emailed again
  • Unverified addresses go out in a small first batch, and the rest wait for its bounces

Not yet

What it doesn't do yet.

MagpieCRM is early access software, at version 0.9.23. So you know before you start:

  • There are no sequences or automated follow-ups yet. Send each follow-up as its own campaign.
  • There's no inbox sync. Replies arrive in your own mailbox, not in MagpieCRM.
  • A campaign goes to one list.
  • Deals are in GBP only, and there are no tasks or reminders yet.

FAQ

Questions, answered.

What does a month of outbound cost on Magpie Cloud?

It depends on how many people you find and email. For example, about 500 prospects found, 250 verified email reveals and 500 emails sent a month comes to £10.58 on Magpie Cloud (1,500 prospect credits and the emails). Plans start at £10 a month, prospect data and email verification are included, and there are no per-seat fees.

Can MagpieCRM send follow-ups automatically?

Not yet. Sequences are coming soon. For now, send a follow-up as a separate campaign. A campaign's results export shows when each person opened and clicked, so you can import the people to follow up into a new list.

Where do replies go?

To your own mailbox. Campaigns are sent from your sender address, so people reply to you directly. MagpieCRM doesn't read your inbox, so add a deal on the pipeline board when a reply turns into an opportunity.

Is cold email legal?

It depends on where you and your prospects are. In the UK, marketing emails to people at companies are allowed with a clear way to opt out, but sole traders and some partnerships must have agreed first. In the US, the FTC's CAN-SPAM guide sets out the rules. Check yours before you send.
