Why do teams look for a Pipedrive alternative?
Teams look for a Pipedrive alternative when the bill grows faster than the team. Pipedrive charges for every seat. Sequences sit on the Growth plan. Lead generation and email campaigns cost extra. A small team that wants all of this can pay several hundred dollars a month.
Pipedrive is still a good product. Reps like its clean pipeline, and it is quick to set up. The pain shows up in three places:
- Seats. Each new hire adds a full seat to the bill.
- Plan gates. Email sync, automations and sequences need Growth or above.
- Add-ons. Prospecting (LeadBooster), Campaigns and Web Visitors are billed on top.
There is also the question of data. Your pipeline holds personal data about your contacts. With a hosted CRM, that data lives on the vendor's servers, under the vendor's terms. Under the GDPR, you still answer for it, and fines can reach 4% of yearly global turnover. Some teams would rather keep that data on servers they control.
How much does Pipedrive cost?
Pipedrive costs $14 (Lite), $39 (Growth), $59 (Premium) or $79 (Ultimate) per seat per month, billed yearly, according to the Pipedrive pricing page. There is no free plan, only a 14-day trial. We compared every plan on 26 September 2026.
The add-ons are priced on the same page. LeadBooster starts at $32.50 a month. Campaigns starts at $13.33 a month. Web Visitors starts at $41 a month. So a team of ten on Growth pays at least $390 a month before any add-on. That is $4,680 a year.
MagpieCRM prices work, not seats. On Magpie Cloud you pay £0.009 per prospect found, £0.002 per verified email reveal and £0.15 per 1,000 emails. Each plan includes £10 of usage. Here is what that looks like:
- 500 prospects found, 500 verified email reveals and 10,000 emails sent a month comes to £10.00 on Magpie Cloud, for the whole team.
- 2,500 prospects found, 2,500 verified email reveals and 25,000 emails sent a month comes to £31.25 on Magpie Cloud, for the whole team.
You can also self-host MagpieCRM for free. Then you only pay for your server and the data and email providers you connect.
MagpieCRM vs Pipedrive: feature comparison
We built MagpieCRM to cover the same ground as Pipedrive and the tools teams add around it. The table below puts the two side by side. Pipedrive details come from the Pipedrive pricing page.
| MagpieCRM | Pipedrive | |
|---|---|---|
| Price model | Flat plan plus usage | Per seat, plus add-ons |
| Entry price | £10/month, or free self-hosted | $14 per seat per month |
| Drag-and-drop pipelines | Yes | Yes |
| Email and calendar sync | Two-way | Yes |
| Email sequences | Included | Growth plan and up |
| Prospect search | Included | LeadBooster add-on |
| Email marketing | Included, with SMS | Campaigns add-on |
| Custom objects | Yes | Custom fields |
| SQL access to your data | Yes | No |
| Open source | Yes (AGPL-3.0) | No |
The big difference is scope. Pipedrive is a pipeline tool with paid extras. MagpieCRM puts prospecting, deals and marketing in one app, on one database. That means no sync jobs between tools, and one bill that does not grow with each hire.
What do Pipedrive users get with MagpieCRM?
Pipedrive users get the pipeline they know, plus the tools they now buy as add-ons. In MagpieCRM, you drag deals between stages, see a full timeline, and keep a next step on every deal. Emails, calls and meetings log themselves.
- Stale-deal alerts. Deals that sit too long in a stage get flagged before they go cold.
- Outbound built in. Find prospects, reveal verified emails and add them to sequences.
- Marketing on the same data. Trigger email and SMS flows when a deal changes stage.
- Forecasts. See a weighted forecast, plus win rate and cycle time by rep or source.
- Your own database. Your data sits in Postgres. You can query it with SQL or plug in a BI tool.
Owning the database also helps with data protection. Under the UK data protection rules, you are responsible for the personal data in your CRM. Self-hosting lets you choose where it is stored and who can reach it.
Where is Pipedrive stronger than MagpieCRM?
Pipedrive is stronger on mobile apps and integrations. It has polished apps for iOS and Android, and a large marketplace of add-ons built by other companies. It has also had many years to refine its pipeline screen, and it shows.
Pipedrive may be the better fit if:
- Your reps work mostly from their phones, out in the field.
- You depend on a niche integration from the Pipedrive marketplace.
- You only need a pipeline, and will never need prospecting or marketing.
- Nobody on your team wants to think about hosting, and a per-seat bill is fine.
If none of those apply, MagpieCRM will likely cost less and do more. If some do, run a short trial with one team first. Check the apps and integrations you rely on before you move everyone.
How do you switch from Pipedrive to MagpieCRM?
You switch from Pipedrive by exporting your data to CSV, then importing it into MagpieCRM. Pipedrive lets you export deals, people, organisations, activities and notes. Most teams can move in an afternoon. Plan a week of overlap so nothing falls through the cracks.
- Export deals, people, organisations, activities and notes from Pipedrive to CSV or Excel.
- Set up your pipelines and stages in MagpieCRM to match the old ones.
- Import each file with the import wizard, and map Pipedrive's fields to MagpieCRM fields.
- Connect your mailbox and calendar so new activity logs by itself.
- Rebuild your sequences, then cancel the Pipedrive seats you no longer need.
